My name is Germán Javier Sferra. I created this website primarily for myself - to archive some of the stories, adventures and memories that traveling and sports have allowed me to experience.

Born in Argentina, Italian by birth (dad) and raised in Akron, Ohio, I'm a proud graduate of The Ohio State University. I played soccer at Archbishop Hoban High School and two years at John Carroll University (Cleveland) before I transferred to OSU and called it a day.

I’ve worked in the sports / soccer business most of my life, first at my high school’s stadium, then at Ohio Stadium, and then through various roles within Major League Soccer (Denver, New York City, Dallas), U.S. Soccer, Concacaf, Relevent Sports, NASL, Blue United and other soccer entities.

A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns (season ticket holder), Indians, and Cavs, the Buckeyes, domestic / international soccer - and pretty much any athletic competition - I’ve attended hundreds of games and sporting events all over the world…some for work, many just for fun.

My wanderlust began after I graduated from Ohio State. I saved up some money, packed a backpack and went to Europe with no real plans. I returned five months later, bitten by the travel bug. I’ve been to 45+ countries (FIFA nations?) as of March 2019…having attended or worked soccer games in 23.

From stories like meeting President Obama, attending seven FIFA World Cups, Running with the Bulls in Spain, going on a safari in South Africa, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, bungee jumping in Switzerland, being at OSU's National Championship games, leaving a game in Mexico in a paddy wagon and many more, perhaps this site will encourage others to live their 'bucket list.'

Note: I'll be posting older content sporadically and in no particular order. Click the menu above for more.
