The games I saw at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany

The World Cup in Germany is one of my favorites for a few reasons...

One, I traveled with my brother Daniel and good friend Clint from Denver. It was my first time traveling overseas with anyone.

Second, Ohio friends Matt, Shane and Bobby also went, as did old World Cup buddies Brett and Curtis. It made the USA games that much more fun.

Third, we had access to tickets through my work, so we went to a bunch of games.

And finally, Germany was such a friendly and easy place to travel through. The train system was awesome, we always found decent places to stay and the Fan Fests were hugely popular - making it fun to watch other games with thousands of fans from all over.

In all we made it to seven games in five different cities / stadiums, watched 12 different countries in action - including the eventual winner, Italy and Maxi Rodriguez’s amazing goal for Argentina to beat Mexico (video below).
